We worked with Simon Barnes to create a blog website so he can write about his passion for wildlife and promote his books.
Background
Simon Barnes is an English journalist and was Chief Sports Writer of The Times until 2014. He also wrote a wildlife opinion column. He continues to write about his two passions, wildlife and sport.
The Brief
To take a half finished website and create a finished website that features a blog and book page.
Our Solution
A new custom WordPress website with a minimalist design.
Website design
The website design is very simple and minimalist, featuring a wonderful photograph of Simon on the home page. The logo has different illustrations which are displayed on the different pages.
WordPress development and build
Most of the website uses standard WordPress functionality. We created a books section which displays all of Simon’s books in publication order and a photo gallery.
The result
The result is an easy to use platform for Simon to continue writing since leaving The Times. Since the websites launch in 2014 he has gained over 4000 subscribers to his blog posts and receives many comments.

Simon’s website was already half made when we called Angie to help to get it finished at (very) short notice. She was fast, efficient, trustworthy and patient. Her knowledge of web design, construction and management is immense, and just as important, she can also teach.
A short training session enabled us to manage the website and go it alone. Her understanding of social media was invaluable. I would recommend her unequivocally.
