We worked with Martin Pike of Lattice Lodge to create a new website to increase their direct bookings.
Lattice Lodge is a guest House in Ipswich, Suffolk, offering bed and breakfast and large group self-catering accommodation to both business and leisure guests.
Most of the bookings are made from websites like booking.com which charge a commission. The brief was to create a responsive website that is easy for guest to book through direct and to promote the local area as a great place to visit.
A custom website which integrates a booking system, events calendar and things to do section.
Firstly we worked on designing a new logo. We presented Martin with a few initial ideas and he picked one which we developed into the finished logo.
From the brief we designed 3 homepage options, each featuring an introduction to the guest house, awards for being environmentally responsible and what’s on in the local area.
WordPress development and build
We integrated the booking system that Martin choose into the website and used the Event’s Calendar Pro plugin by Modern Tribe. We set this up to pull events from the Facebook pages of various local businesses and venues and display them on the website. The events are automatically imported at regular intervals so Martin doesn’t have to update it himself.
Martin is passionate about promoting local independent businesses and we built a custom plugin to display a directory of these with different categories such as Shopping, Food & Drink, Places of Interest and Entertainment. Each single page displays the logo, address and map.
The result is a website which is easy to update and has resulted in a significant upturn in bookings made direct from the website.

From the first meeting it was clear that Angie would take on the project lead role, and pull me through it. A previous attempt had faltered due to my own lack of time and focus to fulfil this role. I couldn’t have asked for more and Angie was very patient when things stalled due to my being too busy or waiting for third party applications to be updated to my satisfaction.
