We worked with Kiln Farm Nursery to create a website that promotes them as a small, friendly, family run business with a passion for growing.
Kiln Farm Nursery are a family run business who grow and sell shrubs, perennials, climbers, trees, summer bedding, pansies, wallflowers, herbs and vegetable plants. They also grow and sell their own vegetables in their farm shop along with lots of other local and seasonal produce.
To create a website which has a warm and friendly feel and provides useful information to customers such as opening times. It needs to be easy to for Kiln Farm to update themselves to reflect the changing seasons.
Our proposed solution was to create a custom WordPress website. We also recommended that Kiln Farm start using Instagram as a way of capturing the changing seasons and the work that they do growing their own vegetables and Christmas trees.
We created a wireframe of the homepage to agree on the initial layout.
The final design was then created which featured a carousel of images at the top. These images can easily be changed to reflect the changing seasons.
The opening times are displayed clearly at the top of the website and are updated automatically to show if they are open or closed.
The instagram feed is featured to provide regular new images showing life on the Nursery.
WordPress development and build
The website has been built so it is easy to edit all the content. We created custom fields to manage the content on the home page and installed Beaver Builder (drag and drop page builder) on some of the other pages so Kiln Farm could easily add and edit text and images.
The result is a custom website that is easy for Kiln Farm to update. Since the launch they have been able to effectively promote their own grown pumpkins and Christmas trees and they have started introducing fairy garden workshops.
WordPress website design and development: Angie Vale
Thank you Angie. We love our new website for Kiln Farm Nursery.
Angie listened carefully to how our existing website was not working in the way we wanted. She came up with helpful suggestions, useful timescales and built it beautifully!
Even better Angie is working with me so that I can update it and improve it all the time. Next project is to set up an events page for my fairy garden workshop and she is going to help me set up my gardening blog.
